London Metropolitan Brass is an amateur brass band organisation, based in North London.
We currently run three brass bands and a learners course for anyone wanting to learn to play an instrument. We provide entertainment to local audiences through concerts and open-air events such as summer fetes, as well as occasionally travel further afield for the Whit Friday march contests and our annual tour. We also support local Civic events and lead parades for organisations such as the Army.
The band has raised thousands of pounds for local and national charities over the past 5 years, including Noah’s Ark Hospice and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The Senior Band was formed in March 2013 as a local band for experienced North London brass band players. Whilst we are not a contesting band, we aspire to the very highest standards of music-making. We rehearse on Friday evenings, 7.45-9.45pm at Muswell Hill Methodist Church. We currently have a vacancy for a bass trombone player, though players of other instruments are welcome.
The Community Band was setup in November 2013, initially as a feeder ensemble for the Senior Band. Since then, it has grown significantly to become a band in its own right, with a regular attendance of 35-40 players. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings, 8.00-10.00pm at CUFOS. The band does not stick rigidly to the standard brass band line-up, so all new players welcome
The Beginners Band was setup in April 2017 for the first graduates of our 8-week learners’ course. We rehearse on Monday evenings, at 7.45pm, finishing at 9.45pm. The rehearsal location is Stroud Green Primary School, Woodstock Rd, Stroud Green, London N4 3EX. All new players are always welcome of any standard.
